Tonight’s Movie | Once Upon a Time in Anatolia Director: Nuri Bilge Ceylan Released 2011 Rating: 9/10
An unpredictable story line that declines to adhere to the silver screen stereotypes or embellishments we’ve become accustomed to. A stratum of plots that join together to create a very feasible human experience. Truly, a thought invoking film in a league of its own that refuses to discredit your imagination while keeping your mind at bay.
Last Night’s Movie | Detachment Director: Tony Kaye Released 2012 Rating: 4.5/10
An unfortunate attempt to establish a point that was never made. The combination of a lack of eloquence, bland dialogue, odd speaking cut shots, and forced cinematography has put the genius of Adrien Brody to shame. The supporting cast seemed out of place, along with their stories (Christina Hendricks seemed to be completely pointless, as per usual). It seemed an attempt to have their own “Half Nelson”, only ending in fruitless shame.
